This fully compostable cup will break down in an appropriate composting facility and, while these PLA cups are not certified for home composting, we have been successful in composting them at home!
The materials in the cup break down, or become part of, usable compost in a safe and timely manner
The main difference between biodegradable and compostable is the latter breaks down into “humus,” which provides valuable nutrients to the soil.
Biodegradable products return to nature, disintegrating or disappearing completely.
This disintegration could take a week or years – another difference with compostable, where items must break down in a “timely” fashion i.e., one-to-four months.
Compostable items completely break down and do not release any metals or toxins into the compost.

These Double Wall cups have a smooth matt finish offering better heat insulation than single-wall cups.
Lined with PLA*, not plastic, these cups are 100% compostable, for those that are concerned about plastic waste in the environment.
*PLA stands for Polylactic Acid. Made from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane, it’s a natural polymer designed to substitute widely used petroleum-based plastics like PET (polyethene terephthalate).
